Dear prayer partner!

I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I appreciate your prayers and all your contribution in my life, and study –Thank You so much!

I thank God for He has brought me here in Philippines with specific purpose and calling. I praise God for His faithfulness. He always walks along with me through all of the difficult and joyful mom. I always appreciate your prayer concern and encouragement that help me a lot during my study. By His grace and your prayer, now I have completed my two years of study in PBTS seminary. Now, we are having three months long vacation from March 10-June 10, 2008. During this vacation, I will be attending Haggai Institute Seminar, which will be held from April 18-May 18 2008 at Maui, Hawaii. I hope I will be benefited from this leadership seminar.

Dear prayer partners, still I have one year more to finish my Mdiv program. If God willing, I’m hoping to graduate by March 2009. But, still I need to depend on God’s will because Still I am in need of scholarship for 2008/March 2009. But I believed that God will supply all my needs according to His promised in Phillip 4:19.

I am happy to inform you that “Nepal Harvest Network Ministry” (NHNM) has already started church planting ministry, since June 2007, in Nepal. Newly, two churches in Birtamode and Rajghat town have been established with around 56 church members. Mr. Kapil Mani Misra and Vijay Chamling are voluntarily involving in church planting activities. They have not received any Bible training or seminar training yet; even though God is using them for His ministry. God is already staring doing His work in Nepal, beyond our expectation, through NHNM. Our previous three old churches (Goldhap Church, Jalthal Church, Panthar Church) also recently have come under the NHNM. Including these three old churches, altogether now, there are five churches under our responsibility and care. As the church grows, needs also grow along with the church. NHNM alone cannot accomplish its vision without your prayer support and encouragement.

NHNM is praying for ministry partners from around the world that have vision for Nepal. Let us joint our hands and mind together for Lord’s work in Nepal. Now, God has given us right time to reach out to the millions of actinic and tribal unreach people with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in Nepal. NHNM has a strong commitment and clear vision to win the Nepal for Christ through its wholistic ministry.

If you want to be one of our prayer partners and like to contribute financially here is our address to contact address:

Personal Testimony

My name is Tej. I was born and grew up in a Hindu orthodox priestly family. My father was an orthodox Hindu priest. Through him we children learned to practice Hindu rites and religion, but there was no peace in my heart as well as in my family. Once, my elder sister became seriously sick. We did not understand what was happening and what we should do about it. We thought that the gods were punishing us, even though my parents did many things according to Hindu rites in order to please our Hindu gods and goddesses. My sister was taken to the hospital but she was discharged soon after without any medical treatment. We had no hope for her except to cry out. Day by day we were facing more and more problem and challenges and this saddened us much.

During those days, there was not even one Christian in our whole province (District) and so we never heard the name of Jesus. We were crying and weeping for our sister, because she was dying. Some neighbors came to watch what was happening. Then a new Christian brother from India (Nepali-Indian) who had come to visit our neighbor's house came out and asked for my mother's permission to pray for her. He boldly stood up and shared about the love of Jesus and the miracles that he performed. We didn't have any other hope except to let him pray for our sister. This Christian man prayed for my sister and two hour later she began to show symptoms of recovery from her sickness. After two days, she was completely healed Praised the Lord for His great miracle. There was no limit to our happiness as we experienced God's miracle. After that incident, my family and I, except my father, who was away from home, accepted the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior. This happened in 1980 while I was a 12 year old boy.

My father came back home, and was enraged that we had become Christian. We faced intolerable persecution for our faith in Christ from our relatives, neighbors, Hindu groups and the government. Many times we (including small children) were beaten. My mother and older brother (aged 14) were left to die and later hospitalized. Two times, people came at night to kill us. Three times people tried to burn our house but they did not have the courage to do it. Rather, they destroyed some parts of our house out of anger. Two times, we were taken into police custody and beaten mercilessly. Somehow God helped us to escape from them. The brother who shared about Christ was also seriously beaten and left to die until he was forced to leave the country. Now, there was no one to comfort us except the word of God. We were continually tortured until 1991. Not only we were persecuted but also ostracized from the society for three years. We children also were not allowed to go to School for three years because of excommunication by the society. Many times we were heckled and pressured to leave country and go to the USA, accusing us of following the “American religion”. People from surrounding villages and cities used to keep on coming to watch, scold, mock and spite us. We became well known to them as ‘Christians’. My father could not do anything to change our mind from the love of God. As a result he sold all of our property including the house, got married to another woman, and lived far away from our place. By this time our family was totally broken into pieces. And we had no place to live and had to spend many nights under the trees.

Because of continued torture, our condition was becoming worse day by day. But we did not give up the hope that we had in Jesus. We became physically and mentally very weak but spiritually we were so strong in the Lord and we were even ready to die for our faith in Jesus. Persecution continued to increase. In 1986 and 1988, along with other believers, the police twice arrested me and put me into jail 8 and 6 months respectively. They burned even our small church building and Bibles. We were seriously beaten by the police. But we continually prayed for them and the government. We also shared the gospel among the police and one of the police officer accepted Christ As a result our punishment was reduced. We found nothing to comfort us during severe persecution except the word of God written in some tracts. We found some Bible verses (Matt. 10:28, 34, 36-38, John 15:19) that encouraged us a lot to bear persecution.

Even in the midst of persecution we did not stop witnessing for the Lord. During this time God did many miracles through us and some people were amazed in witnessing our torture and agony for the cost of faith in Jesus. As a result some of our neighbors including some who were persecutors accepted Christ. During the continued persecution; my mother dedicated me for the Lord's ministry as a tithe when I was 15 years old. This challenged me to give my whole life to God and to His ministry. With this challenge (in 1986) I was baptized at 12 midnight at a river in the middle of the jungle, which was about 10 km away from our house. Baptism during those days was illegal. I went to India in 1988-1991 in order to escape from the threat of killing by Hindu Areshes group.

Nepal Harvest Network Ministry

Introduction

Nepal is the name of a region of magnificent mountain in the Himalayas range. Nepal stretches 885 km from east to west and 193 km from north to south, making a total area of approximately147,18839 sq-km (5543 square miles). Nepal has the highest mountain summits of the Himalayas, having eight of the world’s 10 highest peaks. It is land –locked, acting as a buffer zone between two Asian giants-China in the north and India in the south.

Christianity

Before democracy was instated in 1991, Nepal generally was a closed land to the gospel of Jesus Christ. During this time, however, God had been working to raise faithful people even in the midst of severe persecution to bring the gospel to Nepal. Many people around the world prayed for Nepal so that, even in the midst of persecution and difficulties, churches expanded in many parts of the country. The work of “soil preparation” continued and it became evident that nothing could stop the driving force of the gospel. Since 1991, Nepalese Christians were given freedom by the government to process and practice their religion but not to proselytize. Nepal was the only Hindu kingdom in the world until June 2006, when it was declared a secular state. Now God has opened the previously closed doors as never before to the gospel message. Now is the right time. The fields of Nepal are ripe for the harvest of souls, but the workers are few.

Christians presently make up a tiny minority in Nepal. The Hindus comprise about 80.6% of the total population. Buddhist and Muslims comprise 10.7%, and 4.2% respectively. Kirant 3.6%, other religions 0.4%. Christians make up less then 1% of the total population as of 2001, and these include many non-evangelical, or even cultic groups. Outside the border of Nepal, over 3 million Nepalese are now scattered throughout the world, especially in India and the Middle East. The diaspora, likewise, is primarily made up of Hindus and Buddhists.

Nepal is a land of many ethnic groups. These include Newars, Indians, Tibetans, Gurungs, Magars, Tamangs, Bhotes, Rai, Limbus, Sherpas, Chepang among others. Since the People are primarily Hindu, the people are further divided into four castes, with Brahmin and Chhetri considered the highest castes. Very few Christians in Nepal come from the highest castes. Many individuals and ethnic groups have never even heard the name of Jesus.

Nepal Harvest Network

God has given me a burden and vision to win Nepal for Christ with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to establish churches in many parts of Nepal and reach the millions of Nepalese who live outside of Nepal. Both inside and outside of my country, Nepalese are dying without Christ.

In order to fulfill this vision, I seek to organizeNepal Harvest Network Ministry”, (NHNM) as soon as my theological study is completed. This vision emerged in my heart when I realized the calling of God for His work in my own land, Nepal; for this vision to be fulfilled, prayerfully, I am seeking better seminary for study to equip myself for future ministry. At this time, it has no link to any Christian organization, mission agency, or churches. However, partnership is needed, for there is no way to execute this plan by my efforts alone.

Therefore, I kindly invite Christian brothers and sisters, churches, mission agencies, and Christian organization around the world that have a burden and vision for God’s great work in Nepal, to be a prayer partner. Let us join our hands together in prayer and commitment to win Nepal for the Lord. Nepal is in need your prayer support.

II. Long Term Training: The goal is for the short-term training to be done solely for 5-6 years. After that HTI will be develop into a Harvest Bible College, and eventually a seminary. Short-term training will also be available depending as another option for training if needed.

III. Wholistic Social ministry: Social ministry will be used in sharing the gospel and in church planting.

Benefits of wholistic Social work:

v It will provide an easy way to reach out to all types of people and communities of the country with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

v People can experience Jesus’ love through the direct demonstration of Christian love.

v Social ministry allows Christians to gain respect both with the People and the government.

v Social ministry can help with livelihood issues and allow churches to be self–reliant, and financially sustaining.

I. Types of Social Ministry:

The following types of projects will be launched in order to reach out to the people with the gospel of Jesus Christ and make the churches financially self-sustaining:

v Income Generating Project. This project will be launched both in cities and in the countryside, targeting specially those below the poverty line. In the rural areas, these can include goat farming, fish keeping, poetry forms, bee keeping and so forth. In cities these could include small business support, micro-finance, and skill training.

Sanitation and Medical Camp. Since, Nepal is a developing country; there are an insufficient number of hospitals and medical clinics, especially in remote areas. In these places medical treatment is often 4-7 days travel away. People in these places often will not-undergo the difficult and expensive travel, and

v choose to suffer with their condition-often dying due to lack of treatment. Others may seek shamanistic forms of treatment based on local religious belief. People suffering and dying from preventable and curable illnesses is all too common. Sanitized and medical camps, in these places, can play a very effective role to reach out to these people with the gospel and demonstrate God’s love to the needy of Nepal. Therefore, “Nepal Harvest Network Ministry” has the vision to launch out programs of sanitation, health awareness and medical camps in needy areas with the gospel.

Orphanages. Many children have lost their parents during the war between Maoists rebels and the government of Nepal. Many others have became orphans as the result of AIDS, drugs, natural disasters and other tragedies. Further, some children with parents are forced to live on the street due to extreme poverty, polygamous family structures, and debilitating parental habits. Without

v intervention, there is little hope for these children. As Christian we must recognize our responsibility to care for these children. “Nepal Harvest Network Mission” will seek to care for them and teach them, breaking the cycle created by the societal structure.

v Water project: Water needs take on two forms. In rural areas, water is a critical need for their livelihood-agriculture. Yet, irrigation often is unavailable. “Nepal Harvest Network Mission” will seek to develop small-scale irrigation projects through partnership with NGOs and local governments. For all Nepalese, safe drinking water is a necessity. In some places, people have to travel 3-4 hours one way for drinking water. Often this water is not safe. . Nepal Harvest Network Mission “” will also partner with government and non-government entities to create safe potable water sources.

These types of project will be launched into surrounding communities through the initiative of local Churches.

V. Publishing books and translation: Most of the Christian books, Theology and literatures are written in English. We need to translate those books into Nepali for teaching materials in Training and Bible Schools as well as other literature for evangelism ministry. Translating and publishing books is not an easy task, it requires both manpower and fund. Nepal Harvest Network Ministry will publish and translate the books with the help of partnership work with other Christian Organizations and ministries that are willing to work with us as a partnership ministry.

You are welcome and needed as a prayer partner for “Nepal Harvest Network Mission”. If you are interested in becoming a prayer partner, you are most welcome.
